Disclaimer
UPIFees.com is an independent informational tool. It is not an official website of the Government of India, NPCI or the Reserve Bank of India.
Independent, not official
This site is not operated by, affiliated with or endorsed by NPCI, the Reserve Bank of India, the Ministry of Finance, the Department of Financial Services, the Government of India, any bank, any payment aggregator or any UPI application.
Where official material is referenced, it is cited and linked so you can read the original. If anything here disagrees with an official source, the official source is correct.
Results are estimates
The calculator applies the published framework to the amount and category you choose. It produces an estimate of the merchant-side MDR, not a settlement advice from your bank.
What a merchant is actually charged can differ because of:
- The acquiring bank or payment aggregator and the commercial terms agreed with them
- How the merchant account is classified in practice
- Transaction routing and configuration
- Taxes, platform charges or other fees applied by the provider, which are outside this framework
- Later changes to the rules or to how they are implemented
Not professional advice
Nothing on this site is financial, legal, tax, accounting or investment advice. It is a calculator and an explanation of published rules. For decisions that matter, consult your bank, your payment provider or a qualified professional.
Where the sources stop
A few points are genuinely unsettled in the published material, and the calculator says so rather than filling the gap:
- Education fee collections are placed in the designated industry programme category, but the official FAQ describes the treatment only as flat-fee structures or capped processing rates. It gives no figure, so the calculator does not assume ₹5.
- Credit-linked UPI, including RuPay credit cards on UPI and pre-sanctioned credit lines, follows separate credit product rules. The rates on this site do not apply to it.
- Tax treatment of MDR is not set by either primary source, so no tax is added to any result.
- The list of essential sectors is limited to those an official source names. The FAQ says these sectors include others, but does not list them, so no others are offered.
Timing
The framework takes effect on 15 October 2026. Before that date it is not in force, and UPI merchant payments carry no MDR at any amount. The calculator states this on the page rather than presenting future rates as current ones.
Rules can be revised or deferred after publication. Check the sources below for the current position:

- Ministry of Finance press release: UPI continues to remain free for peer to peer transactions and 96% of merchant transactions (opens in a new tab)

Verify before you rely on it
